Enhance Your Smile With Custom Veneers
Have you noticed minor imperfections in your smile, such as chips, gaps, or discoloration that make you hesitant to share your full smile with the world? These concerns can impact your confidence in both personal and professional settings, leaving you seeking a solution that appears natural and feels comfortable. Fortunately, modern veneers offer transformative options that can address multiple aesthetic concerns in just a few visits.
At South Hills Dental Arts, we’ve spent 35 years perfecting the art of creating beautiful smiles throughout Pittsburgh. Our advanced Digital Smile Design technology allows you to see your exact smile outcome before treatment even begins, ensuring you’ll love your results. With four convenient locations, including our Upper St. Clair office, we make achieving your dream smile easier than ever.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are ultra-thin shells of dental ceramic that bond directly to the front surface of your teeth. These custom-crafted restorations measure about the thickness of a contact lens, yet they provide remarkable strength and durability. Each veneer is individually designed to match your natural tooth color, shape, and size, creating a seamless integration with your existing smile.
The porcelain material used in veneers closely mimics the light-reflecting properties of natural tooth enamel. This means your veneers won’t just look white; they’ll have the same translucency and depth as healthy teeth. The result is a smile that appears naturally beautiful rather than artificially perfect.
The Benefits of Choosing Veneers
Veneers offer versatility that few other cosmetic treatments can match. A single treatment can address multiple concerns, including stained or discolored teeth that don’t respond to whitening, chips and minor cracks, gaps between teeth, slightly misaligned teeth, and worn or uneven tooth edges. This comprehensive approach means you can achieve a complete smile makeover without multiple procedures.
The durability of porcelain veneers makes them an excellent long-term investment in your smile. According to the Cleveland Clinic, veneers typically last 10 to 15 years with proper care. The porcelain material resists staining better than natural tooth enamel, meaning your bright smile will maintain its appearance even if you enjoy coffee, tea, or red wine.
Beyond the aesthetic benefits, veneers can also provide functional improvements. They can protect damaged tooth surfaces from further wear and help restore proper bite alignment in cases of minor irregularities. Many patients find that veneers boost their self-confidence, leading to more frequent smiling and improved social interactions.

Our Advanced Veneer Process
Your veneer journey at South Hills Dental Arts begins with a free virtual consultation. Simply send us photos of your teeth along with your smile goals, and our treatment coordinators will respond with a personalized video consultation. This convenient service allows you to explore your options from the comfort of your home.
During your in-office consultation, we use 3D Vectra Facial Scanning and photogrammetry to create a precise digital model of your smile. Our Digital Smile Design software then allows us to show you exactly how your new smile will look. You’ll have the opportunity to provide input on the shape, size, and shade of your veneers before any treatment begins.
The actual veneer process typically requires just two visits. During the first appointment, we prepare your teeth by removing a minimal amount of enamel, usually less than a millimeter. We then take detailed impressions using our CAD/CAM technology. Thanks to our CEREC system and in-house 3D printing capabilities, we can often provide same-day porcelain veneers, eliminating the need for temporary restorations and multiple appointments.
Candidates for Veneer Treatment
Most adults with good oral health make excellent candidates for veneers. Ideal candidates have healthy teeth and gums, sufficient tooth enamel for bonding, and realistic expectations about their results. If you have habits like teeth grinding, we can discuss protective measures such as a custom night guard to protect your investment.
Certain conditions may require treatment before veneer placement. Active gum disease needs to be resolved first to ensure a healthy foundation. Severe misalignment might benefit from clear aligners before veneers. Large cavities or extensive damage may be better suited for dental crowns.
Caring for Your New Veneers
Maintaining your veneers requires the same good oral hygiene habits you’d use for natural teeth. Brush twice daily with a non-abrasive toothpaste, floss daily to maintain healthy gum tissue, and visit us regularly for professional cleanings and check-ups. While veneers are durable, avoid using your teeth as tools or biting extremely hard objects.
With proper care, your veneers will maintain their beautiful appearance for many years. The porcelain material won’t decay, but the underlying tooth structure still needs protection through good oral hygiene. Regular dental visits allow us to monitor your veneers and address any concerns before they become problems.
