Implant-supported Dentures for a Confident Smile
At South Hills Dental Arts in Upper St. Clair, we believe your smile should empower you to live confidently every day. Snap-In Implant Dentures (also called implant-retained dentures) are a modern, secure alternative to traditional dentures—offering lasting comfort, stability, and natural function so you can smile, eat, and speak with ease.
What Are Snap-In Implant Dentures?
Snap-in Implant Dentures are custom-made dentures that securely attach to dental implants placed in your jawbone. These precision connections allow your dentures to “snap” firmly into place—providing exceptional hold and a natural feel without the slipping or discomfort of traditional dentures.
Benefits of Snap-In Implant Dentures
- Eat Comfortably Again: Enjoy your favorite foods with real chewing power and improved bite strength.
- Secure, Stable Fit: Your dentures stay firmly in place—no slipping, adhesives, or awkward movement.
- Smile with Confidence: Speak, laugh, and socialize freely without worrying about loose dentures.
- Exceptional Comfort: Reduced friction means less gum irritation and soreness.
- Better Nutrition: Restored chewing function allows for a more balanced and healthy diet.
- Bone Preservation: Implants stimulate your jawbone to prevent bone loss and maintain facial structure.
- Ideal for Low Bone Volume: Suitable for patients who may not qualify for full traditional implants.
- Improved Taste & Comfort: In many cases, part of the upper palate can be removed, reducing gagging and enhancing taste sensation.
Snap-In Implant Dentures vs. Traditional Dentures
While traditional dentures restore appearance, they often lack stability and can limit function. Snap-In Implant Dentures resolve these common frustrations with a secure, long-term solution that feels much closer to natural teeth.

Limitations of Traditional Dentures:
- Only 10–20% of natural chewing power
- Difficulty speaking clearly
- Fear of slipping or falling out during meals or conversations
- Gum soreness or irritation
- Restricted diet and poor nutrition
- Ongoing bone loss over time
- Palate coverage can reduce taste and cause gagging
Snap-In Implant Dentures overcome these challenges—offering freedom, confidence, and comfort in every smile.
Am I a Candidate?
Most patients qualify for Snap-In Implant Dentures. During your consultation at our Upper St. Clair office, we will:
- Perform a detailed 3D digital scan of your jawbone
- Complete a full oral and dental evaluation
- Review your health history
- Discuss your smile goals and create a customized treatment plan
Even if you’ve been told you don’t have enough bone for traditional implants, advanced implant techniques may still make you an excellent candidate.

Your Snap-In Implant Dentures Journey
Most patients complete the process in about six months. Here’s what you can expect:
Implant Placement Procedure
After any necessary extractions, we place dental implants in your jawbone. These are left to heal for about four months as they fuse naturally with the bone (a process called osseointegration).
Post-Operative Appointment
We’ll see you the next day to ensure you’re healing comfortably and your temporary dentures fit well.
Soft Liners / Re-Fittings
Soft liners cushion your dentures during healing, improving comfort as your gums adjust.
Uncovery Procedure
Once healed, we expose the implants and place healing abutments to prepare for your final restoration.
Final Attachment
Your custom dentures are securely connected to the implants, giving you a confident, functional, and natural-looking smile.
How Many Implants Will I Need?
- Upper Arch: Typically requires at least 4 implants.
- Lower Arch: Usually requires 2–4 implants for optimal retention and stability.
